Strategies
Notes
- Abyssal enemy, meaning they take 20% bonus Damage from Wolf Knight's Greatsword and Farron Greatsword.
Bugs
- Rarely after being defeated, the player can be locked into sideways movement.
- Iudex Gundyr can fail to spawn.
Trivia
- "Iudex" is Latin for "Judge."
- Works well with the introduction of the fight being a parallel to the Arthurian legend of the sword in the stone. The player takes the Coiled Sword out of the iron armored Gundyr and is judged by him to see if he is worthy to inherit/link the First Flame. This is the first step the player must take.
- Similar to Old King Doran from Demon's Souls, who also tests the player's worth to wield a sword.
- Leaked screenshots show an unused original position of Iudex Gundyr to be in the Consumed King's Garden, in place of Oceiros, the Consumed King.

Iudex Gundyr having a weakness to Fire in Phase 2 appears to be a rumor. Firebombs do not seem to be dealing more damage with my testing, and data mining from trustworthy sources see no change in absorptions after phase transition.
