Lore
An outrider knight from Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, transformed into a beast by the maddening effects of the Pontiff's Right Eye. It is assumed Pontiff Sulyvahn sent him here to stop people from entering the Undead Settlement as one of the main routes to Irithyll.
General Information
A maddened beast, Vordt blocks the exit from the High Wall of Lothric to the Undead Settlement.
This fight is mandatory.
Location
Found at the end of the High Wall of Lothric.
Summons
- Sword Master, at the room's entrance. (Only if the player has defeated the Sword Master outside Firelink Shrine.)
- Lion Knight Albert, exiting the square with the Winged Knight, before going down the stairs.
Drops
Moveset
Vordt has four moves that he uses randomly during the boss fight:
Swipe: He swipes with his mace. Easily dodged.
Roar: He buffs himself at 50% health, enhancing his Frostbite effect and his damage output.
Charge: He charges forward in a line towards the player, turns and repeats thrice. Only used in phase 2.
Rocket Charge: A single, high damage charge that has longer range. Identifiable by the sparks coming off his boots. Only used in phase 2.
Icy Breath: He breathes an icy haze in a cone in front of him. He will only do this move once he has Roared. This attack has a windup time, so dodge behind him to avoid the attack completely. Can be interrupted.
Strategies
Use the Gold Pine Resin that you can find in High Wall of Lothric to deal more damage to him, as your weapon is likely rather weak.
Alternatively, if you have the strength to wield the deep battle axe found in the mimic under the Lothric Wyvern you can do 86 damage per swing & 100 if taken to plus one, this damage score is based on using the weapon art to buff damage further.
Melee
Standing under his belly and attacking him whenever you can is one of the easiest strategies. In phase 2 his charges can still hit you when underneath him, so watch out for his tells. Roll through the charge, not away from it.
Ranged
Standing under his belly and attacking him whenever you can is one of the easiest strategies, even for Ranged players, as it nullifies most of the risk from all of his attacks.
Notes
- A summon sign for Sword Master, the Uchigatana-wielding enemy outside the Bell Tower in Firelink Shrine, is located right outside the fog gate. This will only occur after you have killed him in his original location.
- Can be poise-broken for a critical attack.
