Lore

Exploding from the bodies of unfortunate undead, this consuming chaos corruption manifests itself as an amorphous black blob, vaguely resembling some horrific beast in silhouette, but with no recognizable shape.

— Description in the Dark Souls III Prima Official Game Guide

Location

High Wall of Lothric

  • Naked Praying Hollow Soldier up the stairs down the path opposite the bonfire will transform into a Pus of Man, killing the enemies around it.
  • Naked Praying Hollow Soldier on the roof past the second floor of the Tower on the Wall transforms into a Pus of Man.

Consumed King's Garden

  • Three already transformed Pus of Man scattered throughout the area.

Lothric Castle

  • Two Naked soldiers that transform into Pus of Man below the Dragon Barracks bridge on opposite corners.
  • Upon killing the Lothric Wyverns, a Pus of Man comes out of the green one's claw in the room with many exploding barrels to the right of the gate past the Dragon Barracks bridge.
  • Upon killing the Lothric Wyverns, a Pus of Man comes out of the white one's claw in an area reached by dropping down around the Dragonslayer Armour's fog gate.

Moveset

Praying Hollow Soldier

  • Transform: During the initial transformation, a Pus of Man will deal damage in an area around them.
  • Claw Combo: Slams their giant claw down, then drags it across the ground and slams their head, and finishes by slamming their head three more times.
  • Claw Swipe: A single swipe with their claw.
  • Flail: The giant head will flail wildly four times in a row, then finishes with a delayed final swing of their head.
  • Turnaround Flail: Turns around by swinging their head, then flails their head twice more, and finishes with a delayed final swing of their head.

Lothric Wyvern

  • Transform: During the initial transformation, a Pus of Man will deal damage in an area around them.
  • Claw Combo: Slams their giant claw down, then drags it across the ground and slams their head, and finishes by slamming their head three more times.
  • Claw Swipe: A single swipe with their claw.
  • Flail: The giant head will flail wildly four times in a row, then finishes with a delayed final swing of their head.
  • Curse Spit: Raises their head before spitting orbs around the area, dealing Dark damage and building up Curse.

Notes

  • Abyssal enemy, meaning they take 20% bonus damage from Wolf Knight's Greatsword and Farron Greatsword.
  • Susceptible to Fire. They writhe in pain, immobilizing them for a few seconds.
    • There is a short cooldown afterwards before they can be stunned this way again.
  • Susceptible to both Alluring Skulls and Rapport.
  • Attacks can harm other enemies, including other Pus of Man.
  • Killing the Praying Hollow Soldiers before they transform will not grant you the Pus of Man drops.
  • The wyverns' corpses will not disappear until the player has killed the Pus of Man attached to them. They have no collision and can be walked behind for a safe spot to fight the Pus of Man.

Bugs

  • The Pus of Man of the white wyvern on the left in Lothric Castle dies upon reaching the top of the Grand Archives, before Twin Princes.
  • If a Pus of Man is killed (but not the soldier that spawns it) and the area is reloaded, the soldier that transforms into it will reappear. However, upon attempting to transform, they disappear and no Pus of Man appears.
