Black Knights constantly faced foes larger than themselves, and this sword's unique attack greatly reduces enemy poise.
Skill: Perseverance
Raise sword in the name of the First Lord to temporarily boost poise. Damage reduced while activated.
Effect
- Bonus damage to Demon enemies: 20%.
Availability
- Treasure in the Demon Ruins area of Smouldering Lake. Found in a room behind an illusory wall with an axe-wielding Black Knight inside.
- To reach the room start from the Demon Ruins bonfire and descend until you enter the room with the first enemy.
- Take the stairs down into a hall with two more enemies and head right.
- Enter the passage at the end of the hall and follow it straight all the way down until it turns left.
- Strike the wall at the corner of this passage to reveal the room with the Black Knight and sword inside.
Moveset
Notes
The Black Knight Sword is extremely powerful for builds who focus equally on Strength and Dexterity despite its somewhat mediocre stat scaling. These builds will find themselves doing more damage with this weapon than any other greatsword. Its downside is a much less versatile moveset compared to other options like the Claymore, which can function well even in close quarters due to its thrusting attacks. This, coupled with the fact that the Black Knight Sword is not infusable or buffable, makes it a less adaptable weapon.

Spell Buff: |
Damage multiplier applied to the base value of a Spell. This value scales depending on the primary stat of the Catalyst, i.e. a Catalyst with Intelligence scaling will have its Spell Buff rise as the player's Intelligence rises. By default the value reflected in the infobox and the upgrades uses 60 Intelligence and/or Faith. |

Wielding a weapon without the required Strength and/or Dexterity will incur a penalty to the Physical damage of the weapon, while lower-than-required Intelligence and/or Faith will reduce the Magic/Fire/Lightning/Dark damage and Spell Buff. |

Stability: |
Determines the amount of stamina expended to block an incoming attack. A higher stability also allows you to block stronger attacks without breaking guard and reduces the amount of stamina depleted from blocking attacks. |

The durability of the weapon. |
Weight: |
The weight of the weapon. Note that carrying over 70% of your Equip Load will reduce the speed of your rolls, while going over 100% will reduce your regular speed to walking and attempts to roll or backstep will leave you momentarily stunned. |
