The whole user guides section seems like a pretty superfluous addition to the site. A lot of the information there is redundant. For example, regardless of whether one wants to learn about a specific piece of gear or just browse gear by category, wouldn't most people just go to the relevant gear section using the link in the sidebar or quickbar? At this point in time, at least, user guides appear to be just another way of cataloging already-existing information in another spot or another way. This can lead to some confusion, I think.
That's been my experience, anyway. Just now I was wanting to cross-post a mage build/guide I had originally prepared on Fextra but I had trouble deciding where would be the best place for it: user builds or user guides. I ended up going with the builds page but I'm still not sure I made the right choice. For one thing, I think what I wrote qualifies as more of a guide than a build, but really it's both. Yet somehow I can't see the average user visiting this site clicking User Guides if all they want is information about how to play a certain build, especially when User Builds is listed right above that.
I don't mean to rip on the user guides section too much though. I actually prefer the way its pages are formatted compared to the builds page, and I like the fact that it's easy to upload images on the guides page. On the builds page, it just says some strange thing about entering the name of an image? I don't know. I should probably mention I'm very new to wiki editing so maybe that's the source of all my confusion and not the site's fault.
Just my two cents I guess.
