Since Lord Gwyn, the first Lord of Cinder, many exalted lords have linked the First Flame, and it is their very souls that have manifested themselves as defender of the flame.

General Information
The first flame has manifested itself a guardian, a Soul of Cinder. If defeated, you can choose to link the flame, refuse to or usurp it entirely.
A bonfire here will grant access to The Dreg Heap if you have The Ringed City DLC.

Walkthrough
To enter the Flameless Shrine, you need to collect all four of the Lord of Cinder ashes, which means defeating:
Once you have placed their ashes on their respective thrones, Ludleth the Exiled will sacrifice himself and reveal the Flameless Shrine to you.
In the Flameless Shrine, proceed outside and use the bonfire to proceed to the Kiln of the First Flame. From here you can enter the boss fog to fight the Soul of Cinder.
Notes
- As was the case in the first Dark Souls, the Kiln of the First Flame remains upon a burnt archtree.
