Materials

Materials can be used by Blacksmith Andre to change the properties of Weapons, Shields and Spell Tools.
There are two kinds of materials in Dark Souls III:

• Reinforcement materials, i.e. Titanite: Used to upgrade Reinforcement Level, i.e. upgrade Dagger to a Dagger +1.
• Infusion materials, i.e. Gems: Used to change properties and Scaling, i.e. infuse Dagger with Fire to create a Fire Dagger.

Titanite Chunk	Used to Reinforce Regular Weapons/Shields/Spell Tools up to +9.	Can be bought from the Shrine Handmaid for 13,000 Souls each, after giving her the Dragon Chaser's Ashes. Various areas. See the item page for details.

Crystal Gem	Adds Magic damage and Int. Scaling, but reduces base damage and Str. and Dex. Scaling. Cannot be Buffed. Requires the Sage's Coal to Infuse. Simple Gem	Adds Magic damage, Int. Scaling, and FP Regen, but reduces base damage and Str. and Dex. Scaling. Cannot be Buffed. Requires the Giant's Coal to Infuse. Fire Gem	Adds Fire damage, but removes all Scaling. Cannot be Buffed.	Dropped from a Crystal Lizard in the Catacombs. Dropped from Lantern Peasant Hollows in Undead Settlement, Dagger Ghrus, Smouldering Mad Ghrus, and Smouldering Rotten Flesh. Can be chosen as a Burial Gift.
Chaos Gem	Adds Fire damage and Int./Fth. Scaling, but reduces base damage and Str. and Dex. Scaling. Cannot be Buffed. Requires the Giant's Coal to Infuse.	Dropped from Crystal Lizards in Smouldering Lake and the Grand Archives. Dropped from Demon Clerics. Smouldering Lake treasure.
Lightning Gem	Adds Lightning damage and Fth. Scaling, but reduces base damage and Str. and Dex. Scaling. Cannot be Buffed. Requires the Giant's Coal to Infuse. Blessed Gem	Adds Fth. Scaling and HP Regen, but reduces base damage and Str. and Dex. Scaling. Cannot be Buffed. Strong VS Undead. Requires the Sage's Coal to Infuse.	Received from the Nestling for the Moaning Shield. Dropped from Winged Knights, Cathedral Evangelists, Lothric Priests, Gertrude's Knights, and Hollow Clerics. Various areas.
