Lore
A weary blacksmith
Location
Found in Firelink Shrine, at the back of the shrine in his forge.
General Information
Blacksmith Andre can perform the following services:
- Reinforcement of weapons, shields and catalysts. He requires different types and quantities of titanite as well as some souls to reinforce equipment.
- Infusion of weapons and shields with gems. Initially he can only infuse with Refined Gems, Raw Gems and Fire Gems. Finding and giving him a new type of coal will enable additional infusion options.
- Repair of broken equipment.
- Allotment of Estus, which can be used to change the capacity of the Estus Flask and Ashen Estus Flask.
- Reinforcement of the Estus Flask with Estus Shards which will increase the flask's capacity.
Item Drops
- None
Notes
- Andre is almost identical to Andre of Astora, a blacksmith from Dark Souls, and they are likely the same person. The only real difference is his dialogue; he is more humble and subservient than his predecessor, while the original Andre is interchangeably cynical, wry, and gravely serious. This Andre also has more antiquated dialogue; for example, "prithee, m'work" instead of "please, my work."
- Respawns if killed, after the player has traveled to Firelink Shrine the next time, but Andre will refuse to offer any of his services once killed.
Trivia
- Blacksmith Andre's moveset from the first Dark Souls remains in the animation files, but is unused, as he does not aggro even if killed.
