Lore

“Fire for Ariandel… Fire for Ariandel…
And the ash to kindle the flame…”

A decrepit, old slave knight that prays to the altar inside the cleansing chapel of the Cathedral of the Deep. He begs for an unkindled to show his lady flame, a proper flame that will burn the rot of the painting away.

Gael has another quest for his lady: to find the dark soul of man. He will set off to world's end to find it.

Location

Cathedral of the Deep

Painted World of Ariandel

  • As a summonable white phantom. His summon sign is on the upper left corner in the Ariandel Chapel Bonfire room. He can summoned whether the player is "enkindled" or not.

The Dreg Heap

  • As a summonable white phantom. His summon sign is close to the Within the Earthern Peak Ruins Bonfire. The player must be "enkindled" to summon him.

General Information

Gael will be located in the Cathedral of the Deep if the Ashes of Ariandel DLC is obtained and if The Ringed City DLC has not been completed. Once the player agrees to help him, he will transport them to the Painted World of Ariandel. (If he dies here he will respawn if the area is reloaded.)

Cloth off his robe and a "phantom" in his image will also appear in some specific places in The Dreg Heap, guiding the player.

Eventually, you may encounter him again near Filianore's rest.

Equipment

Item Drops

None

Notes

  • If killed, he will appear again in the Cathedral of the Deep.
  • For the fight against Sister Friede, his summon sign will appear whether the player is "enkindled" or not. However, unlike the rest of the summonable white phantoms, he will be summoned into the fight once the second boss phase is activated.
  • Contrary to previously mentioned summon sign, if the player wants to summon Gael for the fight against The Demon Prince they need to be "enkindled".
