Status Effects
A wide range of equipment create Status Effects. An icon appears in the top left of the HUD to indicate the current effect(s).
Status Ailment
There are five Status Ailments that can affect the player and enemies. This is shown by a bar on your screen with an icon of the ailment. As Status Ailments are inflicted repeatedly, the bar becomes increasingly full and the effect occurs when maxed.
Note: Flynn's Ring and Dragon Torso Stone will improve the player's buildup of Status Ailments on targets.
Poison
Poison will deal damage over time once built up, and the bar will be shown as the duration.The amount of Poison inflicted by weapons wielded by the player is influenced by Luck.
Poison Resistance is influenced by Level and Vitality, as well as Armor and various other modifiers.

Various Environmental Effects exist, where certain enemies may apply negative effects without any bar indications.

- Maggots may be removed with a Bloodred Moss Clump, Torch, or Follower Torch
- Archive Scholar Wax has two layers, with the second layer applied on further hits from wax attacks
- The "Branded" effect can be induced by the player using the Soldering Iron. The player's effect lasts 12 seconds instead of 6, however it only reduces estus healing and does not slow down the opponent or cause fat rolling.
