An Undead Bone Shard can be burned at the Firelink Shrine Bonfire to increase the level of all Estus Flasks.

Cast it into the shrine bonfire to boost the recovery provided by the Estus Flask.

The bonfire's cinders are bones of Undead, and a bone that still burns is a fresh cinder indeed. Before feeding upon death, one must first pray to it.

Can be burned at the Firelink Shrine Bonfire to increase the level of all Estus Flasks.

Availability

Ten Undead Bone Shards can be found during a playthrough:

1. In the Undead Settlement, after the Dilapidated Bridge Bonfire, jump by the White Birch tree being shot with arrows by the Undead Settlement Giant.
2. In the Cathedral of the Deep. From the Cleansing Chapel Bonfire, head into the graveyard until you exit off a bridge. Proceed up the stairs and head right before a Cathedral Grave Warden to a hanging coffin on a balcony area.
3. In Farron Keep, surrounded by Rotten Slugs inside a structure down the ramp past the Keep Ruins Bonfire, before the ladder to the Old Wolf of Farron Bonfire and the door opened by Farron Keep Flames.
4. In the Catacombs of Carthus. From the Abyss Watchers Bonfire, head down the stairs and take a right down the ledges. At the bottom where the Skeleton Ball crashes into a wall, kill the Ball Controller Skeleton with a hat in the corner, and it will drop when the ball next crashes into the nearby wall.
5. In Smouldering Lake. From the Demon Ruins Bonfire, head into the cavern and kill the Carthus Sandworm who drops the shard.
6. In the Smouldering Lake. From the Old King's Antechamber Bonfire, head straight forward, entering the room to the left after turning a corner. Once you enter the rooms with the Smouldering Bastard Ghrus, take the passage to the right. You will eventually reach a large room with two Demon Clerics. Reach the other side of the room and the shard can be found on the left-hand wall. Watch out for the Smouldering Rotten Flesh that drops immediately once you pick up the shard.
7. In Irithyll of the Boreal Valley. From the Church of Yorshka Bonfire, proceed through the passages to reach the wooded area. Head to the right and behind the tombstone by a Corvian
8. In Irithyll Dungeon. From the Profaned Capital Bonfire, next to the bonfire is the corpse of Laddersmith Gilligan with the Stretch Out Gesture and the shard.
9. In Lothric Castle. From the Dragon Barracks Bonfire, head up the staircase to the right, and then continue forward to the bridge with the dead Lothric Wyvern in front of it. Drop down at the far end of the bridge.
10. In the Grand Archives. From the elevator, head up through the library, taking the staircases going upwards. Continue until you reach the roof, where you should drop down onto a balcony near the Crystal Lizards and past the Gargoyles, continuing until you find a corpse covered in wax.

Notes

• Can be traded with the Nestling for a Porcine Shield.

Legacy

• App 1.03, Regulation 1.03
  • The Estus Flask level will no longer be changed when burning an Undead Bone Shard after a multiplayer match.

Lothric Castle Undead Bone Shard

From the Dragon Barracks Bonfire head up the stairs towards the two dragons. Just before crossing the bridge jump down and the shard is directly under the bridge.
